Lumen

The total amount of visible light a source emits in all directions. A fixture's brightness is defined by lumens, not watts.
In detail
Lumen measures light output, not power (watts). Two fixtures may share the same wattage yet differ in lumens, so lumen is the value to compare when choosing products. The total lumen a space needs is derived from the target illuminance (lux) multiplied by the area.
