A fixture with the wrong IP class can short-circuit in a bathroom or fail on a façade at the first rain. The IP (Ingress Protection) code defines a fixture's protection against solids and water with two digits, and is the key to choosing the right product.
01Reading the IP Code
The first digit after IP (0–6) shows protection against dust and solids, the second (0–9) against water. For example IP65: fully dust-tight (6) and protected against water jets from any direction (5).
